Tehlula Lee Foundation
...every soul leaves a footprint...
The Tehlula Lee Foundation was created to honor the beautiful, but short life of Tehlula Lee Thompson. Tehlula was born on May 9, 2010, Mother's day, to Jack and Marj Thompson; Tehlula was born a beautiful and healthy baby and a beloved little sister to two-year-old Lily.

Six short weeks after her birth, Tehlula passed away. The Thompson family lost their beautiful baby to sudden infant death syndrome. While the tragedy trembled the world of the Thompsons, the family sought a way to honor little baby Tehlula and searched for away to help other families cope with the loss of a child.

The Tehlula Lee Foundation was founded in July 2010. Its goal is to raise money to purchase headstones for children who do not have one. On every one of those headstones the family wants to include Tehlula’s footprint, which represents the foundation’s motto: “Every soul leaves a footprint.”

The foundation started in Brookings County in Brookings, South Dakota where there are 75 lost children with no headstones. The Tehlula Lee Foundation looks to expand across the state with the ultimate goal of reaching nationwide.

We will start to lay the cement and 75 headstones for the Greenwood Cemetery here in Brookings,SD. This was our first initial goal and we have no intention of stopping. Our goal is to help families with the pain and emptiness of losing a child. We could not have had the success we have had without any of you. Thank you.
